Arona inaugurated the Fanny Usellini Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art on 26 September in the restored former municipal slaughterhouse at Via Trieste 10. The complex covers roughly 1,770 square metres of buildings and courtyard, returning the site to the town with cultural and social purposes. [1][2]

Its collection began with 556 paintings and sculptures donated by the Sansone-Usellini family, formally received by the council on 13 July. The project combines exhibitions with workshops and educational activities. The Il Ponte social cooperative manages the social café, ticket office and visitor welcome; the café is also designed to offer training and routes into work for people with disabilities. [3][2]

Opening the museum is a tangible achievement; evaluating its social impact will take time. The press release describes facilities and planned activities but gives no total for permanent jobs already created. The museum’s inauguration and the inclusion programme’s ambitions are separate milestones. [2]
