The inspection on 30 August 2026 at Fetovaia beach on Elba confirmed the volunteers’ count: 65 young loggerhead turtles, Caretta caretta, had reached the sea on 24 August. The nest, laid on 3 July, contained 75 eggs; ten did not hatch. [1]

The excavation was supervised by Legambiente Arcipelago Toscano and University of Siena biologist Francesca Capanni, as part of activities with the national park and the LIFE TurtleNest project. Legambiente’s account was published on 31 August. [1]
