On 30 September, the UK government announced £79 million for work in England: £26 million for local nature recovery strategies and £53 million to plant trees outside woodlands between April 2027 and March 2030. These are funds and plans, not 500,000 trees already planted: that number is the proposed maximum. [1]

The strategies bring together priorities from communities, farmers and local authorities. The government says this year’s funding has already been handed to authorities with published strategies. A Shropshire workbook turns this approach into actions: mapping land, linking habitats and recording work and dates. [1][2][3]
