In its September 17 report, FAO describes emergency agricultural support helping about 13,000 vulnerable households, approximately 65,000 people, across ten Haitian municipalities. The work covers Artibonite, Centre and Ouest departments and supports the recovery of local food production. These figures come from the organisation implementing the response. [1]

The programme has more than US$16 million in funding from the regional humanitarian fund for Latin America and the Caribbean. FAO distinguishes assistance under way from the overall aim of supporting 326,000 people. More than 160,000 small livestock are planned for a later phase: they should not be counted as completed deliveries. [1]

The response seeks to address immediate needs while helping people produce food again. Communities help identify households and their needs. Violence, economic instability and supply difficulties still take a toll: the project does not mean the food crisis is over. [1]
