At Keswick Marsh in Norfolk, the Environment Agency, Norfolk Rivers Trust and Water Resources East have restored more than seven hectares of riverbank and floodplain beside the River Yare. A report published on 13 October describes new ponds, shallow pools and reshaped ditches reconnecting the river with surrounding land. [1]

The work allows water to spread in winter and aims to retain it during dry periods. Norfolk Rivers Trust reports visits from various species, including newts and dragonflies: encouraging observations, rather than a complete measurement of ecological recovery. Groundworks took three weeks, following two to three years of preparation. [1]
