The Scottish Government announced a £1,347,018 nature recovery package on 24 October. It covers work on habitats, species and rivers, invasive-species control and deer management. The funding forms part of the £23 million nature restoration budget for 2026–27. [1]

Allocations include £150,100 for recovery after the Abernethy wildfire in the Cairngorms. Planned work includes replacing destroyed wildlife-monitoring cameras and restoring a section of the Duack burn affected by emergency firebreaks. These are announced funds for work to be carried out: they do not mean habitats have already recovered or that the risk of future fires has disappeared. [1]
