In 2024, Germany, France and Spain together recorded 65,781 arrivals of people previously resident in Italy. Italy recorded 23,640 arrivals from the same three countries: a ratio of about 2.78 to one. The bars show all six directions separately. Among these three destinations, Spain had the largest flow from Italy, with 28,945 arrivals. Values for moves to Germany are estimated; those for moves to France are provisional. [1]
These are changes of residence by people of any citizenship, not only Italian citizens. The European definition requires actual or intended residence for at least twelve months. These six flows do not describe all migration involving Italy or explain why people move. The data refer to 2024; Datobello selected the chart on 28 October 2026.
